Follow our building construction steps

We are one step closer to an environmentally friendly energy source!

1646 square metres, divided into 824 solar modules - the photovoltaic modules on the new building have been installed! In future, the PV system with an installed capacity of 350 kWp will help us to generate some of the energy we need ourselves. We are delighted to be able to generate clean electricity with this system at our new location and thus make our energy supply more future-orientated.

Topping-out ceremony

The building shell is finished. The traditional topping-out ceremony for the new building took place end of September. The management board thanked the construction companies, architects and specialist planners involved for their excellent work. Work will now continue at full speed.

60% more space in our new Powder Coating Testing Center

Our new customer lab takes shape and will be equipped with 4 state-of-the-art powder coating lines. An endless spectrum of trials from different industries will be possible in the Gema customers lab – with expert and individual support from our experienced lab experts.

Up high!

A real eye-catcher, but also one of the most complicated elements of our new building is the concrete spiral staircase. As a central element of our building, it leads from the basement to the top floor. Another milestone is the start of the assembly of the steel structure. After the preliminary work, the steel beams will be delivered and directly assembled from 22nd May.

Already six months of building

Just a short while ago, the groundbreaking ceremony took place - and now the first walls on the ground floor are already in place!
Things are moving forward according to plan at Sommerau.

The concrete mixers are turning

The basis has been laid - 449 pile foundations with a total length of 7.48 km are ready to carry our new Gema building. The first floor plates and walls of the underground car park have been concreted. The first milestone of the ground floor has also been concreted, including the floor heating elements. Despite frost and snow, things are running smoothly and we are currently well within the construction schedule!

Heating with environmentally friendly geothermal energy

To reduce emissions to a minimum, the new building will be heated with geothermal energy. Recently, the borehole for the geothermal probe was successfully drilled on the Sommerau site. The geothermal probes were sunk to a depth of 300 m.

Groundbreaking ceremony

The groundbreaking ceremony took place in bright sunshine on the Sommerau site in Gossau. The management of Gema, the construction manager of HRS and the mayor of Gossau were happy to officially start the work for the new building with the spade.
